can never get a appointment by phone always told to ring back. the receptionist are very unhelpful.

I don't think patients are expecting too much from this NHS practice (see previous reviewer). No one is expecting the kind of service you might get from a private doctor. The fact is we all pay in our taxes for our NHS, we pay in both direct and indirect taxes. The NHS is not free. If anyone gets a breakdown of their taxes they will see how much of their own contribution goes to the NHS. For the money we all contribute we can expect a much better service from Glenlyn than we are currently getting.

I feel people are expecting too much. This is an NHS practice not private and if you are that ill that you need to see a doctor urgently you will see one or take yourself to walk in centre. I feel you ought to give them chance and stop thinking you are private.

Earlier this week I arranged an appointment to see a nurse to check my left ear as it felt blocked. A four day wait for an appointment, not bad so far. However, when the nurse checked my ear she flippantly advised I needed to use olive oil before it could be syringed. There was no apology or acknowledgement that this was not pointed out when I initially made the appointment. The fact that I was looking for my ear to be checked as it felt blocked was obvious when I rang on Monday. When I subsequently spoke to reception today to re arrange the appointment they also confirmed I should have been advised to do this initially as it is likely the irrigation could have taken place today if I had. Furthermore, I have been advised I need to wait a further 2 weeks for another appointment!! Total time for this simple procedure just under 3 weeks! I wish I switched to the Vine a year ago! Unfortunately they are no longer taking Glenlyn patients. The nurse in question consistently shows a lack of empathy and is clearly in the wrong job (two visits with her). Reception gave me clearer advice on what I need to do and when I need to do it than she did! A total disgrace.

Things are going downhill faster and faster at this surgery. Not only does it take three weeks or more to get an appointment with a doctor who you know and who knows you, which patients with multiple or serious health conditions need, but now they are introducing a new system from July which means that anyone needing an on the day emergency appointment will have to go to Giggs Hill surgery in Thames Ditton where they will see a nurse practitioner, or a doctor if they're lucky (see the Glenlyn Spring 2015 Newsletter either online or at the surgery on paper). How will patients with mobility or transport needs get to Giggs Hill ? Not everyone can drive and there is only one very unreliable bus to Thames Ditton once an hour or so - and that doesn't appear to go near the Giggs Hill surgery. This will be especially difficult if patients are not feeling well which is likely if they need an emergency appointment. And how will they continuity of care if they can only see a nurse practiontioner ? The online medical notes are not always complete or up to date, and certainly they are no substitute for a doctor who knows the patient.
